He is also a Knight on the TV show CryptoKnights, a Limited Partner at Loyal VC and Draper Goren Holm, and a recognized global voice in emerging technologies. Aly has served as a consultant and advisor to major institutions including INSEAD and the United Nations, where he contributes to initiatives aimed at leveraging technology to reduce inequality and support economic development.
His leadership journey includes serving as a Senior Blockchain Fellow at INSEAD, and he has been recognized as a “Blockchain 100” Global Leader, highlighting his influence in shaping the global Web3 ecosystem. He is also an international award-winning author, having published three books, and a columnist for leading Web3 publications, contributing consistently to the global dialogue on blockchain adoption and digital transformation.
Aly has also played governance and advisory roles at scale, including serving on the board of Soluna Holdings (NASDAQ: SLNH) and advising institutions such as the University of Toronto’s Governing Council, overseeing multi-billion-dollar institutional strategy. He is a mentor with Orbit Startups, part of SOSV — one of the world’s leading venture capital firms managing over $1.5B in assets — as well as the Mobile Only Accelerator (MOX), helping early-stage founders scale globally.
Academically, Aly is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Investment Manager, and holds a Master of Global Affairs as a Schwarzman Scholar from Tsinghua University, a Master of Business Administration from INSEAD (Singapore & France), and a Bachelor of Commerce with Distinction from the University of Toronto.

In this conversation, Julio and Aly explore the evolution of blockchain from speculative technology into core financial infrastructure, discussing tokenization, institutional adoption, regulatory frameworks, and the future of decentralized systems at global scale.
They go beyond the hype to examine how real innovation happens — where capital, compliance, and technology intersect to build systems that are not only efficient, but foundational.
💡 This episode is a deep reflection on how the digital economy is being architected — where trust is programmable, value is borderless, and innovation becomes infrastructure.
